Serving Out Loud.

Tis' the season for one of our most powerful outreach events. JOIN US!  We need your "stuff" and we need your time.  This free clothes give-away is available to everyone regardless of income.  It was meant to be a way to swap your old clothes for some "new" ones.  If you also know someone in real need of clothes- invite them!

The Clothing Conncetion will be held October 22nd (8am-2pm) and we still need both clothes and volunteers.  

CLOTHES:  'Gently used' clothes for men, women and children are needed.  We especially love to recycle school uniforms- we'll take all you've got.  Bring all your 'stuff' on Sunday mornings and put them in the trailer out front, or in the office entrance during the week.

VOLUNTEERS: We would love for you to help us before or during the event.  We need help sorting and prepping the clothes right now, and a LOT of help on October 22nd. Serve It Up!

Are you ready to help change the world?                                     

It all starts with serving others in Jesus' name.  

        I think of this great verse in 1 Peter 3:15-   "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."

 If you want someone to be curious enough to ask you about your faith- serve them!  As you serve even in the smallest ways, people will ask, "Why are you doing this?"  It gives you a perfect opportunity to share the hope that you have in Christ.  Serving is the best way to earn the right to be heard.

         Each October we push ourselves to serve outside the walls of our church and help make a difference in some way.  Here are some ways you can join us over the next Month (or so)  

Serve Week- October 16-23

Small Groups- find your own project that touches the life of someone in our community

Build Team (18-23) join a remodel project for a needy family right here in Bluffton- come to the BT Tent this Sunday

Clothing Connection (22nd)  help us give clothes to thousands.  Volunteer HERE.

Kairos Prison Cookies (due 18/19)  Your fresh baked cookies could help a prisoner meet Jesus. INFO        

 'Friend Day' (23rd)  A special Sunday service designed just for your friends who don't go to church.

Also- The Town of Bluffton has asked for our help on a special 'Re-Addressing Project" that will be on November 12th.  More info to follow.

Just A Quick Note....

I wanted to drop you note and let you know that Patty and I have been out of town for nearly 3 weeks as we went to California to see family, and then attend a Pastor's Conference.  You know how it is when you get back from being away- you want to run away again!  There is so much to catch up on, but I wanted you to know I was back and look forward to sharing some cool stuff with you next week.

 In California (Redding is my hometown) we spent every waking moment with family.  My very aged parents are there and we hung with them every day.  Wedged into our time with my family, Patty's family had a Family Reunion.  Patty is one of 10 siblings!  When you get them all in one place it is wild.  We had a wonderful and sad time.  The purpose of the gathering was to essentially say good-bye to Patty's brother Gary.  Gary is in the last stages of Cancer, and outside of the miracle we are praying for, will be gone soon.  We all had a chance to love on him and find things to laugh about, but underneath the surface was a great sadness.  This  all took place within the week that we found out that 2 more of our closest friends have cancer.

 Patty and I are still in shock, but one thing it reminded us is that we have to make our lives count.  People are sick and dying all around us- in fact, you are terminal!  We need to be ready 'in season and out of season to share the Gospel' with whoever God brings across our path.  If we don't tell them, who will?  I am reminded again of I Peter 3:15:  But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.   One more quick thought- there is still time for you to join the Marriage Oneness Bible Study that starts this Monday night (19th) at the church.  This has proven to be one of the best marriage small groups we have ever offered.  Please get more info or sign up at our LCC "Events Page".
